Jozef Kesecioglu is Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at the Department of Intensive Care Medicine, University Medical Center, Utrecht, the Netherlands. He has re-organised the four intensive cares and made one department of it before designing and moving to the new, award winning, state-of-the-art ICU.

Professor Kesecioglu was the Chair of the Ethics Section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). After finishing his term, he worked in the Executive Committee of ESICM as the Chair of the Division of Scientific Affairs. He has been the President of ESICM between 2018-2020. He was awarded with ESICM Society Medal in 2022.

Professor Kesecioglu has authored around 180 published or in-press peer-reviewed papers and has been giving lectures in various scientific meetings. His main interests are ethics, mechanical ventilation, intensive care environment and selective decontamination of the digestive tract.
