Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Brussels and Consultant (past-Chair) in the Department of Intensive Care at the Erasme University Hospital in Brussels. 

He has served as the Past-President of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM), the European Shock Society (ESS), the Belgian Society of Intensive Care Medicine (SIZ), and the International Sepsis Forum (ISF). 

He is a member of the Royal Medical Academy of Belgium.

He was made a Baron by the King of Belgium. 

He also received numerous international awards.

Prof. Vincent has authored over 1450 journal articles, has been cited more than 320,000 times and holds an H-index of 228.

He is the editor-in-chief of Critical Care, Current Opinion in Critical Care, and ICU Management & Practice.
